Cowboys' defense is already making noise in ways fans only dreamed of

The Dallas Cowboys defense is already being corrected after a terrible 2025 season. However, in training camp, they're already turning heads in the right direction.

Of course, there's still a project to be made. Still, there's a thing called first impressions in training camp. The defense is making a heck of a case for themselves, following through on CeeDee Lamb's comments earlier this offseason when he called the defense "annoying." A bold comment from one of the best receivers on one of the best offenses.

Christian Parker's team is making play after play. They aren't just making plays, but this group seems to be frustrating this defense. Here are some of the best moments of the defense so far this week.

The Cowboys' defense has been excellent in training camp

This was one of the most notable plays, and also one of the loudest, as DeMarvion Overshown just bulldozed through the fullback, Hunter Luepke.

Luepke is not a little guy at all, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 250 pounds. He's been the unsung hero of the offense, opening up holes for Javonte Williams and blocking for Dak Prescott on third downs, but Overshown got the best of him here.

The former Texas linebacker has been ultra-confident in training camp this summer and has even gone so far as to say he can average 10 tackles this season. Still a long way to go to prove himself from injuries, but with his raw athleticism, he can do it. He was listed as the Cowboys' breakout candidate, and he has every reason to have that label.

Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams were brought in to stop the run. They didn't necessarily live up to those words on this play, but they're giving the Cowboys' offensive line a lot of trouble.

Clark and Williams make up one of the best defensive tackle duos in the NFL. Both are filled with wide bodies who can tackle quickly, and a full season of both of them together will be fun to watch.

Oh, yeah, we didn't forget about Caleb Downs either. He stops the run on the play down below.

He's been in on pass coverage, forcing the edge on stopping runs, and even got into a small dust-up with Brevyn Spann-Ford after a play. He's already bringing the spice, and he's letting the offense feel it.

The rookie is Mr. Everything, and already proving it.

"It was a big day for Christian Parker’s defense, highlighted by an interception from Cobie Durant and some PBUs from Shavon Revel, who I thought had one of if not his best practice as a Cowboy."

"Ryan Flournoy’s touchdown catch where he ripped the ball away from DaRon Bland was the best of the day. Bland also had a PBU that was nearly intercepted by Caleb Downs."

"DeMarvion Overshown, Julius Wood and Israel Abanikanda struck me as a couple of players that made pads pop the most."
