The Dallas Cowboys made several trades this offseason to help bolster their roster on both sides of the ball.

While the deal that brought veteran wide receiver George Pickens to town was the most widely discussed, a trade that the front office completed before the 2025 NFL Draft looks to be paying major dividends as the newcomer to the Cowboys' defense has been fantastic thus far in camp.

Given what Dallas had to give up to acquire the former corner, a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick, this could be a massive steal for America's Team as we inch closer to the official start of the 2025 regular season.

Doubted Cowboys Trade Acquisition Kaiir Elam Is Lighting it Up at Camp

Trevon Diggs is still not ready to take the field and might not be back in the fold with the rest of the Cowboys defense until September, with the former Alabama Crimson Tide standout saying as much earlier this week.

That has opened up an opportunity for veteran cornerback Kaiir Elam. The former Florida Gators standout has made the most of it thus far, as he has been one of the top defenders on the practice field during training camp. That continued this week with Elam coming down with another interception, this time off a pass from Dak Prescott, where he showed off his ball skills as he stopped on a dime to pick off the attempt and turn upfield.

With Elam still on his rookie deal, he will earn just over $2.5 million this season. If he can keep this pace up throughout the remainder of training camp and into the regular season, that trade with the Buffalo Bills will look even better for Dallas than it does right now.

In 29 career games, Elam has recorded 81 tackles to go along with two interceptions and one fumble recovery. Those numbers were good enough to have him shipped out of Buffalo. The past is the past, though, and now Elam has an opportunity to rewrite the book on his NFL career with the Cowboys, and he is off to a great start.
