Cowboys fans will laugh hysterically when they hear this Shedeur Sanders idea

The Dallas Cowboys need as much help as possible, but this is way out there.

It's been a busy but also quiet offseason for the Dallas Cowboys. Thankfully, Jerry Jones has been able to keep his key guys like Javonte Williams, Brandon Aubrey, and even George Pickens. In the quarterback department, the Cowboys signed Sam Howell, a backup who is still 25 and learning to feel the NFL game.

He will likely be in a QB2 competition with Joe Milton, but one signing that would rock Cowboys Nation is Shedeur Sanders. Cooper Kleinberg Pro Football Sports Network listed three landing spots for Sanders amid trade rumors. Yes, America's Team was listed as a potential suitor.

"While Milton remains under contract, both quarterback experiments appear to have fallen short. Third time could be the charm. Jones could acquire Sanders for relatively cheap and give him the opportunity to develop behind Dak Prescott as the team’s long-term backup."

Shedeur Sanders shouldn't be a serious backup QB option for the Cowboys

It's not the worst idea in the world, but the Cowboys look like they're already set at the backup position.

To support the point, Joe Milton has a rocket of an arm, but at times, that's been his own worst enemy. In the preseason last year, he looked like more of a default option at the backup. Not something you want to see if you're a Cowboys fan, but now, there's some actual competition with Sam Howell.

Howell's young NFL career can really only be judged in the 2023 season, when he started all 17 games for the Washington Commanders. He can definitely give Milton a run for his money and earn the QB2 position.

But if both options go awry, can the Cowboys really sign Sanders? There have been worse ideas, but maybe the Joneses should stay away from this one.

In the pre-draft process, NFL executives grew concerned about Sanders' attitude, and that continued into his rookie season, when he mouthed all his answers during an interview after learning he would be the backup to Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel.

There's a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume, but that's only because so many AFC quarterbacks were injured or opted out. Despite being QB3 at one point, Sanders played in half the season and passed for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. On the ground, he rushed for 169 yards and a TD.

It feels like it's a move Jones would make because they do love creating headlines, but they already have their QB2 options in place. This would be too risky if Sanders ends up causing more problems than solutions.

But the Cowboys may -- just may, keep their options open later down the line if Howell and Milton aren't cutting it.
