The Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans are two teams you wouldn’t think would share a connection in the NFL. But when it comes to their backfields, there are several degrees of separation.
The Cowboys let Tony Pollard go in free agency last season, and he signed with the Titans. That spot was created because the Titans opted to let Derrick Henry leave via free agency. Dallas could have signed Henry to fix their running game but the Cowboys opted to lean on Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott while Henry ran wild with the Baltimore Ravens.
Henry’s dominant season aside, Pollard’s first season with the Titans didn’t wind up on the best terms. But a former Cowboy has also made his way to Tennessee with hopes of turning things around.
Former Cowboys CB Amani Oruwariye Reportedly Signing With Titans
According to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, former Cowboys cornerback Amani Oruwariye is signing a one-year deal with the Titans. The 29-year-old played in seven games and started four for Dallas last season, making 29 total tackles with three pass breakups and one interception.

It’s the fourth team for Oruwariye over his six-year NFL career. He entered as a fifth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2019 draft, making 173 total tackles, 24 pass breakups, and nine interceptions over four seasons. He signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants in 2023 before he spent the first portion of the year on the practice squad and spent the second half of the year with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Oruwariye began last season as a member of the practice squad but was promoted to the active roster, yet fans will remember his muff of a blocked punt that cost them a game against the Cincinnati Bengals last December.
Regardless of past mistakes, the Titans are hoping Oruwariye can be as effective as Pollard was in his first season with the Titans. He ran 260 times for 1,079 yards and five touchdowns, but it didn’t equate to team success as Tennessee finished with a 3-14 record.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are hoping that Javontae Williams can be a suitable replacement for Pollard next season, while Oruwariye will look to fill a need in the Titans' secondary.
