Heading into the 2025 season, the Dallas Cowboys hope they will have linebacker DeMarvion Overshown back on the field at some point. Overshown suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL in his right knee in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The young linebacker immediately had surgery days later.
It was a monumental loss for the Cowboys, as Overshown, who missed his entire rookie season in 2023 because of a torn ACL in his knee, was playing good football.
The former University of Texas standout had 90 combined tackles, eight tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, five sacks, four pass deflections, and a forced fumble. The last update we received on Overshown’s injury progress was at the end of January.
The second-year linebacker told Nicole Hutchinson of DallasCowboys.com that he feels good and was getting around more comfortably.
"I feel good, said the former third-round pick, even tossing some humor into his answer (h/t Patrik Walker of DallasCowboys.com). My crutch isn't in sports mode, so I'm getting around a little more comfortably than I was a couple weeks ago. And that's all I can ask for, is to get better each week."
Earlier this week, Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News spotted Overshown at The Star without crutches.

If you are a Dallas fan or a part of the team, it’s good to see the former third-round pick moving without crutches. Overshown has a long road of recovery ahead of him, as some predict that he could miss the entire 2025 season.
When Overshown spoke with Watkins in early January, the young linebacker said he’ll be back playing football in 2025.
“I’ll be back playing football for sure in 2025, and it won’t be in December. It will be before that.”
Dallas would love for that to happen as the best-case scenario for Overshown. However, they won’t rush the young defender back, as he can be one of their building blocks for the future alongside Marist Liufau, who was taken in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
