The Dallas Cowboys have Dak Prescott as their franchise quarterback, and he's coming off a season-ending hamstring injury. They added Joe Milton III this offseason, but they have the chance to reunite with a former QB after Tuesday's news.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Buffalo Bills released QB Mike White. And with him available, Dallas should look to re-sign him, especially with Will Grier as their QB3.

Cowboys Should Reunite With QB Mike White After Bills Release

The Cowboys drafted White with a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft. Despite being a draft pick for Dallas, he never started a game for this team. He was released by America's Team in August 2019 before eventually signing with the New York Jets.

Between 2021-22, White started in seven games for New York, racking up 2,145 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He completed 62% of his passes and isn't afraid to push the ball downfield. That playstyle does lead to more interceptions, but can also create chuck plays. This preseason with the Bills, White had 166 passing yards with two passing scores.

The Cowboys are certainly going to keep Milton due to his youth and traits. In the preseason, he ranked sixth in passing yards (397) with two passing touchdowns and two interceptions. Milton has ups and downs, but he needs some developing, and Dallas knows that.

Meanwhile, Grier is their QB3, and that spot should go to White. Grier went 7-of-14 for 87 passing yards this summer. Per Pro Football Focus, he finished with 40.0 overall and 40.1 passing grades.

This is also Grier's second stint with America's Team, and he has yet to prove himself capable of backup QB. Even though White has been released by the Bills and Dolphins over the last two years, he would be an upgrade over someone like Grier.

He won't be playing unless both Prescott and Milton are down with an injury, but at least with White, the Cowboys would be able to compete. That can't be said for Grier, and that alone should make this an easy decision for the front office.
