Cowboys Lose Yet Another Star to Season-Ending Injury
The Dallas Cowboys are waiting for the 2024 season to come to an end. This year has been an utter disaster, headlined by constant injuries to key players.
Micah Parsons missed multiple weeks with a high-ankle sprain and quarterback Dak Prescott is out for the year after suffering a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.
They also had DaRon Bland make his 2024 debut in Week 12 after he rehabbed his way back from a foot injury. It was a lot for Dallas to overcome, and they own a 5-8 record entering Week 15.
And the injuries haven't stopped, as it's been reported that cornerback Trevon Diggs will miss the remainder of the season as he has to undergo knee surgery.
Cowboys News: Trevon Diggs is Done for the Year
Jay Glazer of FOX reported on Saturday Diggs is out for the Week 15 game but will also be gone for the rest of the season.
Diggs is dealing with cartilage issues in his knee, and that injury caused him to miss two games this season. Dallas announced that Diggs won't even travel with the team this week.
The Alabama product started last week against the Cincinnati Bengals and played in all 71 defensive snaps. After the game, he commented on his health, saying, "I felt OK. Just dealing with the same issue as I was before, but other than that, I was just fighting through it and pushing."
It looks like he couldn't give it a go anymore but that's the right decision. With Dallas owning a 5-8 record, the season is over. They aren't making the playoffs so there's no point in thrusting one of your best players out there.
This is the second straight year that the 26-year-old is out for the year with a knee injury. In 2023, Diggs suffered a torn ACL and now he will have to undergo another knee surgery.
This season, Diggs has logged 42 total tackles, 11 pass breakups, and two interceptions.
He'll have the offseason to recover and get ready to roll in 2025.
