With NFL free agency almost a week away, the Dallas Cowboys have been busy making moves on Tuesday in preparation for the 2025 season.
Earlier on Tuesday, Dallas re-signed veteran defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa to a massive four-year, $80 million contract extension, which includes $58 million guaranteed. Many fans wondered how the Cowboys would get something done with Odighizuwa, given they were projected to have $3.4 million in cap space.
That said, Dallas has found a way to give them space to make moves this offseason. According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys restructured star receiver CeeDee Lamb’s contract, freeing up $20 million in cap space.
Dallas signed Lamb to a four-year, $136 million contract extension last summer. With that move completed, the Cowboys re-signed special teams ace C.J. Goodwin to a one-year deal, per Watkins.

Goodwin has spent the last seven years with the Cowboys after starting his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals. The 35-year-old Goodwin has made a name for himself as a core special teams player.
Goodwin played a career-high 82 percent of special teams snaps this past season. The veteran special teams ace also recorded nine special teams tackles.
Meanwhile, Thomas wrapped up his second year with the team after signing with Dallas as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft.
The 25-year-old defender had 14 combined tackles, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble in 13 games this past season. Thomas has spent most of his time on special teams over the last two years, just like Goodwin. While these signings won’t move the needle, they are key for Dallas to have a competent special teams unit.
