The Dallas Cowboys locked up All-Pro defensive back Trevon Diggs on a long-term contract in July of 2023 with a total value of $97 million over five years.

Unfortunately, injury issues have kept Diggs from performing at the level Cowboys fans saw before signing that contract, where he reeled in 17 interceptions from 2020-2022.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide standout has appeared in just 13 games over the last two seasons, and now his head coach is looking to ensure he is approaching his rehab correctly so that Diggs is available and in the lineup from Week 1 on.

Cowboys Ensuring Diggs Rehabs Properly This Summer

While meeting with the media on Tuesday, the first-year head coach provided an update on Diggs' status and let fans throughout Dallas know that the veteran is doing all the right things, which has yielded positive results.

Having Diggs attack his rehab correctly has been a priority for the Cowboys' coaching staff and front office. There were concerns that this is not what happened following his last injury, which could have helped lead to the issues that prematurely ended his 2024 campaign.

Diggs underwent surgery on his left knee in January of 2025 to address a cartilage issue. This is the same knee he previously had surgery on to repair a torn ACL suffered in 2023. Since that ACL tear, Diggs has been unable to make the same type of impact on the defensive side of the ball that made him one of the league's best almost immediately after entering the NFL.

If the Cowboys can get Diggs back to being that level of player, their defense will, once again, be among the toughest the league has to offer. Quarterbacks will constantly be thinking twice about letting the ball go as interceptions can cripple an offense.

We'll continue to track Diggs' progress as those details become available. Dallas will need him to be at his best if they want to reach the goals the organization has for this team.
