As the NFL offseason continues, Dallas Cowboys fans wonder if the team will add another quarterback to the roster. Dak Prescott and Will Grier are the only quarterbacks currently under contract with the Cowboys, and with Prescott not getting any younger, it wouldn't be shocking if Jerry Jones & Co. started thinking about the veteran QB's successor.

The 2025 NFL draft will offer the Cowboys an opportunity to find Prescott's heir, especially since they'll have 10 picks at their disposal. America's Team will have several QB prospects they can target for their future under center, including one they're planning to meet next week.

Cowboys Schedule Visit With Texas QB Quinn Ewers

On Monday night, Cowboys insider Calvin Watkins reported that the team will be hosting Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers for a visit on Wednesday, April 2. Ewers being a local prospect also means that the interaction won't count toward the Cowboys' top-30 visit total.

It isn't surprising that the Cowboys are eyeing Ewers — especially with his local connections. The 22-year-old gunslinger was born in San Antonio before moving to Southlake, where he played high school football. After spending one year at Ohio State, he transferred to the University of Texas and never looked back.

Joining the Longhorns finally helped Ewers unlock his true potential. He made 37 appearances across his three-year stint, completing 737-of-1,135 passing attempts (64.9%) for 9,128 yards, 68 touchdowns (to 24 interceptions), and a 148.0 efficiency rating. He was also named the MVP during Texas' 2023 Big 12 Championship run and even cracked the All-SEC second team last season.

When it comes to where he might fall next month, Ewers is often a third or fourth-round pick in most NFL mock drafts. ESPN currently has the Longhorns QB as the No. 112-ranked prospect, meaning the Cowboys would either need to reach to draft him with their third-round pick (No. 76) or trade up using some combination of their seven Day 3 selections.

With Prescott signed through 2028, Ewers is the perfect project prospect the Cowboys spend the next few years developing. If he can successfully replace Prescott, great. If not, Dallas can at least say it tried doing something about the future of its quarterback position.
