The Dallas Cowboys are 2-2-1 entering Week 6, despite facing injuries on both sides of the ball. America's Team has shown a lot of fight in the early season, and a lot of that success comes from a potent offense that is constantly finding ways to score. Having said that, Dallas' defense has left plenty of room for improvement.

This year's NFL trade deadline is on Nov. 4, and talks on potential movement are going to pick up around the league. The New York Jets are 0-5 and could be sellers at the deadline, which means defensive tackle Quinnen Williams may be dealt. If that's the case, the Cowboys should call New York again to see what the price would be on him.

Cowboys Should Call Jets on Quinnen Williams

Williams isn't a stranger to the Cowboys, who previously attempted to trade for the Jets' DT earlier this year.

On Sept. 14, general manager/owner Jerry Jones admitted to ESPN that he tried acquiring Williams in a deal that would've sent Micah Parsons to the Jets, rather than the Green Bay Packers. According to Jones, New York slammed the door on those talks, saying the team "didn't have the resources to entertain conversations."

Fast forwarding a couple of weeks later, and the Jets are the lone winless team in the NFL. They are in the stages of another rebuild and could look to bulk up on some draft capital. However, ESPN Rich Cimini pointed out this week that it would require a first-round pick.

"That said, (Williams would) bring back at least a first-round pick. We know Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks highly of him. Extra draft capital could help position the Jets for a quarterback in the 2026 draft if they don't feel Justin Fields is the long-term answer."

That may be a rich for Dallas, especially since they traded two first-round picks over to Green Bay in the Parsons trade. Nonetheless, Williams is one of the best interior defensive linemen in the league. In seven seasons with the Jets, he has compiled 310 total tackles, 58 tackles for loss, 101 quarterback hits, 14 pass deflections, and 40 sacks. He's also a three-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro. That's without mentioning that he's still 27 years old and is in the prime of his career.

Osa Odighizuwa just inked a four-year, $80 million deal this offseason, while Clark is under the books through 2027. Those are two talented DTs, but Williams is a player who could take Dallas' defensive line to another level.

Whether or not the Cowboys would meet the Jets' asking prices remains to be seen, but Jones should at least call them to see what it would take to get Williams off their hands.
