The Dallas Cowboys made an attempt to add to their roster in free agency this offseason. The two areas that saw the most change were running back and linebacker. Dallas added Kenneth Murray Jr. and Jack Sanborn at linebacker while adding Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders at running back.
Along with those additions, the Cowboys also added to their offensive line, cornerback, quarterback, and wide receiver rooms. That said, the Cowboys still need to add pieces to their roster to be competitive in 2025.
New head coach Brian Schottenheimer is aware of this and made competition a clear focus last week at the NFL owners' meetings. According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Schottenheimer said, "There’s no jobs being given out…Our theme of this program is to compete every day…If we’re not creating competition, then I’m not doing my job, and the players need to understand that."

After these comments, Dallas adding a few more free agents following the draft may be in the cards. One area of the team the Cowboys could improve through free agency after the draft is wide receiver, as there are still a few big names out there, including Keenan Allen.
Dallas Should Consider Adding Keenan Allen if He is Still Available After the 2025 NFL Draft
So far this offseason, Dallas has passed on signing veterans like Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs, and Cooper Kupp, likely due to contract demands. Typically, this late in the offseason, contract demands plummet for available free agents. However, given Allen's pedigree, his contract demands might not drop significantly.
Last season, Allen recorded 70 receptions on 121 targets for 744 yards and seven touchdowns with the Chicago Bears. The 32-year-old failed to reach the production he is used to with the Bears while also recording the third most drops in his career with six. Furthermore, Allen's struggles last season weren't all on him, as the play-calling wasn't great.
Schottenheimer bringing Allen in would bring the competition he is talking about into the wide receiver room. That said, Allen made it clear during the 2024 season that he only wants to play in two places in 2025: Chicago or Los Angeles. Unfortunately for Allen, all three franchises in those cities have filled out their receiving rooms.
Dallas may be the city most like Los Angeles left for Allen to play in with the warm weather and the stadium. All that remains to be seen is if Jerry Jones is willing to make the call to the former All-Pro receiver.
