Cowboys Get Offensive Reinforcement Ahead of Thanksgiving Game vs. Giants
By Joe Summers
One key Cowboy is suddenly expected to play on Thanksgiving Day against the Giants following Wednesday's news that veteran WR Brandin Cooks will suit up after being activated from Injured Reserve.
Cooks hasn't played since Week 4 and has only nine catches for 91 yards and one TD on the season, yet his experience will boost an offense that's sorrowfully lacked passing-game threats aside from CeeDee Lamb.
Cooper Rush is still the QB, which presents its own limitations, but having Cooks available is a benefit regardless.

In corresponding moves, the Cowboys placed CB Caelen Carson and OT Asim Richards on Injured Reserve. While Cooks is an aging receiver at 31 years old, he'll provide more value to this team than either of those players will.
This matchup has already been full of injury news and Dallas finds itself in theoretical position to make a playoff run. If the Cowboys can run the table, they'll make the postseason.
That's a tall order, though Cooks' return helps matters. Last year, he caught 54 passes for 657 yards and eight TDs. He's a clear red-zone threat with the ability to serve as a possession receiver, both qualities that benefit a Cooper Rush-led system.
Dallas is a rightful favorite and should win this game. Cooks likely won't be heavily involved, though he's still a major upgrade over the other depth pieces the Cowboys have been trotting out.
Whether or not he makes a huge impact, Cooks' return is a welcome development for a team in need of some juice.
