The Dallas Cowboys are fresh off another tough loss. They couldn't stop the Carolina Panthers' usually struggling offense, falling 30-27 on the road and dropping their overall record to a mediocre 2-3-1.
Fortunately, help might finally be on the way for Brian Schottenheimer's team. According to a report by Jon Machota of The Athletic, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is inching closer to getting back on the field.
Cowboys Could Get CeeDee Lamb Back in Week 7
"Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on 1053 The Fan said WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle), WR KaVontae Turpin (foot) and RG Tyler Booker (ankle/foot) all “have a chance” to play Sunday against Washington," Machota wrote on X.
This is obviously great news for the offense. As much as getting everybody back on the field could represent a challenge for Brian Schottenheimer, given how well the team has fared on that side of the field, that's a great problem for him to have.
Dak Prescott has posted MVP-caliber numbers despite playing behind an undermanned offensive line, and Booker's return should help the running game. Turpin is always a factor as a secondary playmaker, and he should reclaim his spot as WR3, even with Ryan Flournoy's breakout.
As for Lamb, he's always been the team's primary weapon, and judging by his usage early on in the season, he was well on pace for another All-Pro-caliber campaign. Through just two full games, Lamb was up to 16 receptions on 22 targets for 222 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
George Pickens has developed strong chemistry with Prescott in Lamb's absence. He's now up to 32 receptions on 48 targets for 525 yards and six touchdowns, and he looks like the big-play threat and scoring menace the Cowboys hoped he'd be when they paired him with Lamb.
Perhaps Schottenheimer will continue his current approach and spread the wealth among the team's many pass-catchers. There's no need to rely heavily on Lamb and force-feed him the ball, an approach that has often led to Prescott making questionable decisions and turning the ball over.
Of course, Lamb should still sit at the top of the pecking order and be the team's leader in targets. But despite Dallas' losing record, their offense has actually been one of the most proficient in the game, so there's no need to make any big adjustments right now.
