Once the regular season ended, there was a ton of movement among team coaching staffs. All around the league, teams wanted to switch things up ahead of the 2025 season, and a former Cowboys coach landed elsewhere.

The New Orleans Saints hired Scott Tolzien as their new QB coach, per Ian Rapoport. Tolzien followed Kellen Moore to the Saints, the two coaches will reunite in New Orleans. These two were together in Dallas from 2020-2022.

With Tolzien down in New Orleans, former Cowboys quarterback Will Grier could also make his way to the Saints this offseason. Grier came into the NFL as a third-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2019 NFL Draft.

He landed on the Cowboys roster from 2021 to 2022 before getting released. During that time, he had Tolzien as his quarterback's coach and could look to reunite.

Grier is currently on the Cowboys practice squad, but there could still be a pathway for him to find his way to New Orleans. The Saints plan to run it back with Derek Carr in 2025, but they could want a player who understands the system in the room.

The Saints also have Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and even former Cowboy Ben DiNucci on the team. Things can change between now and when OTAs begin in May, with minicamps starting in June.

Although Grier never suited up for the Cowboys, he showed the coaching staff enough to stay around for two seasons, which led him back to the practice squad.

Grier doesn't own the strongest throwing arm, but is a smart QB and uses his mind to quickly go through progressions, based on his scouting report posted on NFL.com.

With both Cooper Rush and Trey Lance slated to hit free agency, the Cowboys may be more inclined to keep Grier around, but if they head in a different direction, Grier could look to land with the Saints.
