The Dallas Cowboys are still adding to their roster even though they have a bye this week. The Cowboys are one of several teams that need to make a trade by next month’s deadline if they want to make a playoff push.

However, all signs out of Dallas point towards them much by the deadline. Any moves we see the Cowboys make will be marginal back-of-the-end roster moves or signings to the practice squad.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys signed defensive lineman Jalen Dalton to the practice squad and released defensive tackle Phil Hoskins from the taxi squad.

The 27-year-old defensive end last played in the UFL earlier this year with the San Antonio Brahmas coached by Wade Phillips. Dalton had 12 total tackles and two sacks.

He signed with the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) in Oct. 2023 before the league merged with the USFL. Before Dalton decided to play spring football, he spent time with multiple teams in the NFL.

The former NC State defender went undrafted following the 2019 NFL Draft and latched on with the Chicago Bears. Dalton didn’t stick around with the Bears, who waived him that summer.

After the Bears, Dalton signed with the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and the Carolina Panthers.

The 27-year-old defensive lineman appeared in seven games with Atlanta during the 2022 season. Dalton had 13 combined tackles, a tackle for loss, and played 31 percent of defensive snaps. Given the Cowboys' injuries on defense, Dalton could make an appearance in Week 7.
