The Dallas Cowboys caught their fair share of flak for selecting former Alabama Crimson Tide standout Tyler Booker with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
With other needs on the roster, selecting an interior offensive lineman as high as Dallas did was met with plenty of skepticism. Many fans viewed the wide receiver position, in particular, as a larger concern. Knowing what we know now about what the wide receiver room looks like following the addition of George Pickens, it seems safe to say the need at wideout has been addressed.
As happy as Dak Prescott has to be about having a pair of legitimate No. 1 receiving options on the roster, he seems just as pleased that Booker will be part of the offensive line that helps keep him upright in the pocket. The Cowboys quarterback elaborated on what makes the rookie lineman special while meeting with the media at OTAs.
Dak Prescott Giving Praise to First Round Pick Tyler Booker
Considering Booker spent his collegiate career playing for the University of Alabama, that he already approaches the game the same way a veteran would is telling. There are great college programs all over the country, but teams keep selecting prospects out of the SEC for a reason.
Will Booker be the next great offensive lineman for the Cowboys? That remains to be seen. What we do know, however, is that Dallas has had plenty of success in recent years when it comes to identifying high-end talent on the offensive line in the draft. If Booker brings this approach to the game and his craft to the field every day, then he has a chance to be a special one for the Cowboys.
One thing is for certain, it did not take Booker long at all to leave a lasting impression on Prescott.
