The Dallas Cowboys are 3-3 but enter the bye week on a sour note. Last week, the Cowboys were embarrassed at home by the Detroit Lions, falling 47-9.

The Cowboys have dealt with struggles from both sides of the ball. They will use this bye week to fine-tune some things and give some injured players some extra rest.

Rookie tackle Tyler Guyton hurt his knee in Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and didn't suit up in Week 6 against the Lions. Even though he has struggled thus far, he's still expected to remain the starting left tackle whenever he's healthy and ready to go.

Owner Jerry Jones was asked if Guyton would remain the starter and he didn't hesitate. Jones said, "Yes, he just wasn't ready to go."

Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was asked if Guyton is included in Dallas' best five offensive linemen and gave a vote of confidence to the 22-year-old.

"Yeah, absolutely. Tyler's a really good talented young player, he just wasn't feeling great."

The Oklahoma product has support from management and the coaching staff. Despite all that, Guyton needs to play better. He's been a problem upfront for the Cowboys.

In 2024, he's tied for third in the NFL in penalties (8) and fourth in sacks allowed (4) over 292 offensive snaps.

The Cowboys brought in Guyton to replace Tyron Smith but the interesting part is that both players haven't played well in 2024. Smith has committed five penalties and given up five sacks with the New York Jets.

It doesn't matter what's happening in New York though. Guyton needs to up his play and showcase what the organization sees in him. What he's put on tape isn't good enough.
