The Dallas Cowboys are in mandatory minicamp before transitioning to some time off ahead of training camp. These practices are important, considering head coach Brian Schottenheimer is running the show for the first time.
The Cowboys drafted nine players in the 2025 NFL draft, but not everyone has signed their deals yet. Second-rounder Donovan Ezeiruaku is among those on the list but he's still at practice with his teammates.
When speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Ezeiruaku didn't seem concered about it.
Cowboys rookie DE Donovan Ezeiruaku is not concerned about when his rookie contract is done: “I’m here doing what I have to do every single day. That’s between the organization and my agent. I have full faith that they’re gonna get that done. When it’s ready, it’ll be ready and… pic.twitter.com/yGrxa7IGQn

He said, "I’m here doing what I have to do every single day. That’s between the organization and my agent. I have full faith that they’re gonna get that done. When it’s ready, it’ll be ready and I’ll sign that piece of paper."
When asked about OTAs and minicamp, he added, "It’s going really well. I’m living the dream.”
These statements from Ezeiruaku should make the Cowboys grateful, considering the drama around Cincinnati Bengals rookie Shemar Stewart.
Donovan Ezeiruaku is Already Doing the Right Thing Compared to His Rookie Counterpart
Stewart was the 17th overall pick but hasn't stepped on the field yet since he hasn't signed his rookie deal yet. Not only that, but he took some shots at the organization in some comments on Tuesday.
While he's doing that, Ezeiruaku is focused on getting better with his new teammates. He's also getting praise from his head coach.
Schottenheimer said, "You can’t watch the guy and not get excited just watching him do the things that we’re doing out there on the grass, the things that we saw coming out of Boston College. And then the work ethic is elite.”
The talent is clear as day. Last season at Boston College, he had 80 total tackles, 21 TFLs, and 16.5 sacks. Dallas already knew he was talented, but his work ethic is popping out.
He will certainly bolster Dallas' pass rush, but it already looks like he's a team player. The drama around Stewart has to make the Cowboys feel even better about their choice in Ezeiruaku.
