Dallas Cowboys fans are well aware that franchise owner Jerry Jones is going to do things in his own unique way. At times, this has worked in the favor of the team; however, more often, the recent results mean a massive overpay. Both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb could've been extended at a far cheaper rate if the front office and ownership hadn't stood in the way of what needed to be done.

The exact same story has played out with Micah Parsons, who has had enough of what is clearly a level of disrespect for his agent.

Parsons has been incredibly patient and can no longer justify continuing to wait for an offer that the star says hasn't come. An official trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones, and Parsons turned up the heat by posting the complete story on social media. Parsons is now on the trade block due to his own demands. In no way should this be the approach the Cowboys take if there is any other possible path. If it is a simple fix of paying what is deserved, the franchise must do whatever it takes to fix this.

Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Puts Himself on Trade Block Entering August

However, it is completely possible Parsons is past the point of being willing to come to terms. This does seem unlikely as the Cowboys hold all the cards, having both contractual control and already making it clear they weren't planning to give in to the star's demands. Still, Parsons has started the clock and put himself on the trade block. It is a power play both to up the price and let other teams know that he could be on the move.

Dallas headlines will now be dominated by potential trades and speculation of what it might take to get Parsons back on the same page with the franchise. This is the mindset the Cowboys must maintain even as the star continues to push for a trade. Players with this elite level of talent cannot be dealt if you're expecting to continue to contend.

With Lamb and Prescott both under long-term, contracts, it isn't as if the franchise is in any position for a rebuild. The Cowboys are built around veteran pieces, continuing to attempt to make a playoff run. None of this adds up to trading your best player when you can simply make the overdue decision and pay the star what is owed.
