The Dallas Cowboys have the best kicker in the NFL right now in Brandon Aubrey. The former spring football star has become a household name in Dallas over the last few years for his big leg and accuracy.

Aubrey was one of the stars in the Cowboys’ Week 2 overtime win over the New York Giants. He was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals, including a game-tying 64-yard field goal at the end of regulation and a game-winning 46-yard field goal in overtime. Aubrey’s performance caught the attention of owner Jerry Jones, who is already looking at a potential extension.

“He certainly is coming. We'll be looking at that. Probably have had communications since the kick. But he's certainly in the future, Jones said on 105.3 The Fan Tuesday (h/t Jon Machota of The Athletic).

Brandon Aubrey Is on Track for Huge Pay Raise with Excellent 2025 Start

The 30-year-old Aubrey is due for a pay raise as he’s scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season. We already saw the Cowboys take care of Kavontae Turpin, another spring football star, this offseason with a three-year, $13.5 million extension.

Jones might as well get ready to pay Aubrey, who is off to a great start this season. Through the first two games, the former Birmingham Stallions kicker is a perfect 6-for-6 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra points.

A kicker like Aubrey, who can make field goals from 60-plus yards away, gives America's Team an extra advantage. At the pace he’s on, Aubrey is projected to be a perfect 51-for-51 on field goals for 2025. Now, we know that will not happen, but if the third-year kicker can come close to what he did in his rookie year (36-for-38 on field goals and 49-for-52 on extra points), the Cowboys will be in good shape.

The most recent extension for a kicker was in March with Brandon McManus. The Green Bay Packers handed the 34-year-old McManus a three-year, $15.3 million deal based on 11 games of production (20-of-21 on field goals and 30-for-30 on extra points).

Before McManus, several kickers such as Cameron Dicker, Harrison Butker, Jake Elliott, Evan McPherson, Dustin Hopkins, Chase McLaughlin, and Ka’imi Fairbairn received three or four-year extensions in 2024.

That being said, we should expect Aubrey’s new deal to be in the three- or four-year range, and it could exceed what McManus got based on his trajectory this season.
