After not making a huge splash in NFL free agency, the Dallas Cowboys will need to hit on almost all of their draft picks in next month’s NFL Draft. One position of need for the Cowboys could be at cornerback.

Dallas still has DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs at the boundary spots. However, the latter could be sidelined for an extended period, possibly missing a portion of training camp. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the standout cornerback underwent a chondral tissue graft surgery on his left knee in January.

That said, with Diggs out for an extended period and Jourdan Lewis leaving in free agency to join the Jacksonville Jaguars, it puts the Cowboys in an interesting spot on draft weekend. The good news for them is this year’s class has a good selection of CB prospects, including former East Carolina standout Shavon Revel Jr.

According to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network, the Cowboys will host Revel for a top-30 visit next week.

Revel was considered a first-round pick heading into the 2024 college football season but suffered a torn ACL in September. However, late last month, Revel’s surgeon sent a letter stating that the young cornerback is on track to be fully cleared by the summer.

Revel’s surgeon was Dr. Daniel Cooper, who works for the Cowboys, as Marcus Mosher points out. Given the nature of his injury, Revel might not get selected in the first round and could be available when Day 2 kicks off.

The Cowboys are projected to have the No. 44 overall pick in the second round, which could be an ideal landing spot for Revel. The 6-foot-2 defender has the size and skills to be a playmaker on the perimeter.

Revel is still a work in progress, especially with his technique, but he might be worth the risk for Dallas. In three years at East Carolina, the young cornerback had 71 combined tackles, 16 pass breakups, four tackles for loss, three interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, a sack, and a fumble recovery.
