The Dallas Cowboys made a trade on Tuesday and that likely signals the end of a veteran on the roster.

The Dallas Cowboys are in the midst of a three-game skid rolling into Week 10. On Sunday, the Cowboys lost 27-21 to the Atlanta Falcons, falling to 3-5 on the year. In this matchup, Dak Prescott hurt his hamstring and CeeDee Lamb is dealing with shoulder pain after spraining his AC joint.

Instead of sticking with the roster they had, the Cowboys made a foolish trade on Tuesday morning. They traded a 2025 fourth-round pick to a Carolina Panthers for receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 sixth-round pick.

While that was a massive overpay for an underwhelming pass-catcher, the Cowboys have faith in Mingo. During the 2023 Draft process, NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. had Dallas taking Mingo in a mock draft.

On Tuesday, owner Jerry Jones then said the team was going to acquire a receiver they "admired since his college days." They have faith in the 23-year-old, and he's signed through the 2027 season.

That likely signals the end of the Brandin Cooks era in Dallas. Cooks has been on IR with a knee injury and has missed the past four games. Even before going down, Cooks hasn't been effective this season, logging nine catches for 91 yards and a score.

He's slated to be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and the Cowboys will likely let him walk in free agency. Cooks is going to turn 32 years old during the 2025 campaign and only has notched 63 catches for 748 yards and nine touchdowns in 20 career games in Dallas.

The Cowboys also made Lamb the second-highest-paid WR in the NFL ($34 million annually), so having a young playmaker on a rookie deal is exactly what Dallas wants. Not playing Cooks this offseason.
