The Dallas Cowboys have a tough road trip against the Denver Broncos on the slate for Sunday, but the news around cornerback Trevon Diggs went from bad to worse.

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Dallas is placing Diggs on IR due to a concussion and knee injury. It continued to get worse, though, as WFAA's Ed Werder reported that Diggs did miss last week's game due to a concussion, but he landed on IR due to some "residual problems with his right knee."

And with the injuries continuing to pile up for Diggs, his status in Dallas is wearing thin, and he could be on his way out of town.

Trevon Diggs’ Latest Injury Could Be the Final Straw

The details surrounding Diggs' concussion have been murky, as he suffered the injury at home, somehow. And considering that it wasn't that injury that forced him to land on IR makes things even worse. The last couple of years have been rough for Diggs. He tore his ACL in 2023, which limited him to two games. The knee problems continued into the 2024 season as well, limiting him to six games. In January, he underwent a chondral tissue graft, as pieces of bone and cartilage were moved to the affected area to improve his joint function.

When it was revealed he was having this procedure, it was believed he was going to have a long rehab. However, now it looks worse than it ever appeared.

Back in 2023, Diggs and Dallas agreed on a five-year, $97 million extension, but it looks like a disaster in retrospect. He hasn't been able to stay healthy, and patience is starting to wear thin in the Lone Star State. Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports believes Diggs will be on the trade block this offseason and says the frustration level in Dallas is 10/10.

Based on Jerry Jones' comments this week, it's easy to see that the organization is annoyed with Diggs. It just looks like the injuries can't stop with Diggs, and if a player can't stay healthy, a team will find a way to move on.

Dallas rookie CB Shavon Revel Jr. is nearing his 2025 debut, and DaRon Bland inked a four-year, $92 million extension this past August. The Cowboys also have second-year Caelen Carson on the team. With frustration continuing to rise in Dallas, this latest injury likely means Diggs' tenure in Dallas will come to an end sooner rather than later.
