The 2025 NFL Draft is only a week away, but that isn’t stopping the Dallas Cowboys from bringing in veteran free agents for a workout to see if they could be worth signing in the coming weeks and months.

On Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC-2 reported that Dallas worked out veteran offensive lineman Hakeem Adeniji. The 27-year-old Adeniji most recently played for the Cleveland Browns, with whom he signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal last offseason.

However, the veteran lineman never played a single game with the Browns. He was placed on injured reserve last August with a knee injury he suffered in the preseason.

Before joining the Browns last year, Adeniji played 43 games (15 starts) with two other teams (Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings). The 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman out of Kansas was taken in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The former Kansas Jayhawk lineman appeared in 15 games as a rookie in 2020 and made five starts. During his rookie season, Adeniji showed off his versatility, starting three games at left tackle, one at right tackle, and one at tight end.

Then, in his second season with the Bengals, Adeniji started at right guard in Cincinnati’s final nine games of the 2021 regular season and four postseason games.

After playing a notable role in the Bengals’ Super Bowl run, Adeniji returned to being a depth piece on the offensive line. The former sixth-round pick appeared in 15 games (one start at right tackle) during the 2022 regular season. However, he started three games at right tackle in the playoffs.

Adeniji’s tenure with the Bengals ended the next year as Cincinnati waived him before the 2023 season began. However, the veteran offensive lineman was signed to the Vikings’ active roster in October 2023, where he appeared in four games.

If you are Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer, you can never have too much o-line depth, especially during OTAs, minicamp, and training camp. It also helps that Adeniji is a native of Garland, TX.

That said, no deal reported after the workout, but the Cowboys are doing their homework on the veteran, who appears to be healthy now after missing last season.
