The Dallas Cowboys made a huge splash in the offseason when they traded for George Pickens. The former second-rounder showed flashes of greatness in his first years in the league, and he's performed like the perfect complement to CeeDee Lamb, and even thrived when the latter has missed time this season.
All the concerns about his character have been nothing but a thing of the past, and the former Pittsburgh Steelers has been stellar for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. That's why former Dallas star Dez Bryant doesn't want to see him leave Arlington.
"I'd tell George, 'I guarantee you, brother, it won't be like this nowhere else," Bryant said during Monday's appearance on 105.3 The Fan. "You and CeeDee, you guys are dynamic. Stay together, grow together, go into the HOF together."
Bryant 's plea also mentioned that Pickens not going to find this type of success somewhere else.
Dez Bryant Urges George Pickens to Stay with Cowboys
The Cowboys got Lamb back on the field in the 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders. He and Pickens combined for a whopping nine receptions for 192 yards and one touchdown, proving that Bryant was right by his "dynamic" description.
With that in mind, team owner/general manager Jerry Jones also went out of his way to shut down all the concerns about Pickens' representation. He's also represented by David Mulugheta, Micah Parsons' agent, and given how things ended with the franchise's former star pass-rusher, some people were worried that there could be some bad blood between both parties.
Still, Jones' doesn't see Pickens' agent being a hurdle.
“Don’t pay any attention to that at all. No attention,” Jones said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Too much was made of that — that the agent had something to do with the ultimate decision of where we were. It almost had zero to do with it, period. That’s not a negative; it just didn’t have that kind of influence. I was going to be where I was with Micah, relative to dollars and cents, no matter who represented him.”
Pickens is as talented as they come, and he's looked much more focused and mature since he joined head coach Brian Schottenheimer's team. He's up to 36 receptions on 54 targets for 607 yards and two touchdowns for the season, and while keeping him around for the long run might be a challenge, money-wise, the Cowboys need to find a way to get him to put pen to paper.
