The Dallas Cowboys had the worst pass defense in the league last season. They gave up 251.5 passing yards and 30.1 points per game, both the worst figures in the NFL, and watching them part ways with Matt Eberflus wasn't much of a surprise.
That's why, even though their secondary will probably get a huge boost with the arrivals of Christian Parker and Derrick Ansley, this team clearly needs as much help as they can get in the pass defense department.
Of course, that includes rival teams losing their best players. Considering that, Cowboys fans should be thrilled to know that A.J. Brown's days with the Philadelphia Eagles seem numbered.
A.J. Brown Leaving the NFC East is Huge for the Cowboys
It's no secret that the Cowboys and Eagles hate each other's guts, so one team's disgrace is another team's joy. And while Cowboys fans would probably want Brown to stay so he can continue to tear the locker room apart from within, having him leave the NFC East will probably work best for them.
Brown has always been a stud, and he's had some big performances against America's Team. So far, he's logged 44 receptions for 593 yards and has scored four touchdowns in eight games against the Cowboys, including an eight-catch, 110-yard, one-touchdown game in their last meeting. All in all, he averages 74.1 receiving yards per game against Dallas, and that's even with a subpar passing game and Jalen Hurts not making the most of his skill set.
The former Tennessee Titans star has been vocal about his frustrations with Nick Sirianni's team and his lack of involvement in the passing game. He also doesn't seem to get along with Hurts, who was once his bigger defender.
The Eagles aren't facing salary cap constraints and could clearly afford to keep Brown's big contract on their books, but this situation might not be sustainable for much longer. He clearly wants to leave, and he's already shown that he can make life quite uncomfortable when he's unhappy.
The Cowboys already gave their most hated rivals a big blow when they stole Christian Parker to be their next defensive coordinator. Now, the biggest win they can have over them this offseason will be finding a way to keep George Pickens next to CeeDee Lamb while the Eagles have no choice but to part ways with an All-Pro wide receiver.
