Former Dallas Cowboys safety Julius Wood saw his rookie season come to an abrupt end, thanks to a suspension from the NFL.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the league suspended Wood for the next six games for violating their policy on performance-enhancing substances. According to Spotrac.com, he will reportedly forfeit $265,002 of his salary for this season. With five games left this season, Wood will miss the rest of the season and the first game of the 2025 season.

Wood didn’t make the final Cowboys’ 53-man roster in late August after signing as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. It was shocking to see Wood not make the team as he played well in the preseason. The rookie defender recorded nine tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a tackle for loss.

However, the rookie defensive back didn’t have to wait long for his next opportunity as the Tennessee Titans claimed him off waivers before this season kicked off.

The former East Carolina standout has only appeared in nine games for the Titans, spending most of his time on special teams (115 snaps). He only saw five snaps on defense.

With the league suspending Wood, Tennessee will try to fill his roster spot for the last month of the regular season. Since the Titans claimed Wood off waivers from Dallas, he's technically still under contract until the 2027 season when he becomes an RFA.

However, missing the last five games of this season won't help his standing in potentially making the Titans' 53-man roster next season.
