Former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has surprisingly not received many head coaching interviews since the end of the regular season.

Moore, who is currently the offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles, received an interview request from the New Orleans Saints for their head coach opening earlier this month. However, with the Cowboys parting ways with Mike McCarthy earlier this week, Moore’s name has popped up as a potential head coaching candidate.

On Tuesday, the current Eagles offensive coordinator was asked about the Cowboys opening as Philadelphia prepares for their divisional round contest. Moore briefly touched on his time with the Cowboys before switching topics to his current task – the Los Angeles Rams defense.

"I spent a lot of time there, eight years there. So have plenty of relationships in that place. I love it here. I've had so much fun here. It's been a really fun process, and we're in a really special situation right now, getting the chance to play this Sunday, having a chance to make a run at this thing, and that's really all you worry about. Everything else is what it is, and we'll see where it takes you."

The former Cowboys coach gave a generic response, highlighting his time in Dallas, while not closing the door on potentially returning. If owner Jerry Jones wanted to bring back someone familiar with the organization, Moore might be his best option.

The 35-year-old Moore has done a good job as the Eagles' offensive coordinator as they have one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL (179.6 yards per game – 2nd) and scoring offenses (27.2 –7th) during the regular season.

Moore played for the Cowboys and then worked his way up in the coaching ranks, spending a year as the QBs coach in 2018 before becoming the offensive coordinator for four years. After that, Moore has been an OC with the Los Angeles Chargers and Eagles, working with Justin Herbert and Hurts.

With the Cowboys getting a late start on the coaching carousel, they might have to take a detour to find their next head coach.
