Former Dallas Cowboys kicker Greg Zuerlein will join the many veterans across the league looking for a new job ahead of the 2025 season.

On Friday, the New York Jets released the 37-year-old kicker and filled his roster spot with defensive end Michael Fletcher. Zuerlein joined the Jets in 2022 after spending the 2021 and 2020 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

The former Pro Bowl kicker was solid in his two-year run with Dallas, making 82.9 percent of his field goals (better than his career average of 82.2%), but only 89.3 percent of his extra points.

Zuelein departed the Lone Star for the Big Apple in 2022, making 81.1 percent of his field goals (30-of-37) and 96.6 percent of his extra points (28-of-29) in his first year with the Jets.

Then, in his second year with the Jets, the veteran kicker made 92.1 percent of his field goals (35-of-38), which included 5-of-6 from 50-plus yards out. Zuerlein also converted 93.8 percent of his extra points (15-of-16).

However, the former Cowboys special teamer ran into some injury woes this past season with the Jets. Zuerlein only appeared in eight games as he was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 30 with a knee injury.

The veteran kicker attempted to return to the field as the Jets designated him to come back to practice on Dec. 20. Sadly, the ex-Cowboys kicker was again placed on injured reserve eight days later, effectively ending his season. It was the first time in the veteran's career that he failed to make double-digit appearances.

Zuerlein converted a career-worst 60 percent of his field goals (9-of-15), but still made 92.9 percent of his extra points in the eight games he appeared in.

After a rough 2024 season in New York, it will be interesting to see if another team brings Zuerlein in for a workout. Most teams already have their kickers locked in for 2025, but his experience could make him an interesting signing when training camp rolls around.
