The Dallas Cowboys have had a number of options behind franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, with the latest addition being former Patriot Joe Milton. After seeing Cooper Rush starting for an injured Prescott for a large chunk of the season, the front office and fan base were both ready for a change.

Bringing in Milton gives hope that the season won't be entirely over if the veteran quarterback goes down again. The second-year quarterback put together an impressive highlight reel in the season's final game, giving Drake Maye a game off.

It was impressive enough that the Patriots were willing to remove the distraction, and the Cowboys spent a draft pick. Last year's backup, Cooper Rush, found a new landing spot backing up Lamar Jackson with the Baltimore Ravens.

Former Cowboys Quarterback Mike White in Trouble

Turning the clock a bit further, former Dallas draft pick and backup Mike White appears to be in hot water in Buffalo. The quarterback was a 2018 draft pick with Dallas attempting to find cheap depth at the position. White only stuck around for a year before getting his first chance at NFL action with the New York Jets behind Zach Wilson.

After spending three seasons in New York the veteran backup joined the Miami Dolphins for a season before landing with the Buffalo Bills. This job now appears to be in jeopardy, with the team already having the stability of Josh Allen and Mitch Trubisky at the top of the depth chart. It is easy to make the argument that the Bills would be better off keeping Shane Buechele or adding another developmental project. The only upside to keeping White is the experience in the starting lineup.

However, this loses a bit of its charm when you turn on the tape and watch just how lost White was in an elevated role. It is impossible to argue that White's time in the starting lineup is a good reason to keep the veteran on the roster.

With the stability that Allen and Trubisky bring, it is time to utilize the spot for a cheaper project option. White simply isn't the right fit to run Buffalo's offense if the worst were to happen.
