As the Dallas Cowboys have everything going for them in training camp, with no injuries or any drama (thank goodness), the Atlanta Falcons have their own problems, and they're bringing in a familiar Cowboys face to potentially play a huge role for the time being.

Cooper Rush, the former Cowboys quarterback for two different stints from 2017-2024, is getting a chance with the Atlanta Falcons, as Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix deal with injuries of their own. Tagovailoa is dealing with a tight back, and Penix is trying to return from a torn ACL he suffered in last season's Week 11.

With Falcons training camp getting underway, it looks like Rush is going to get a legit shot to get some good reps and impress his coaches.

Even though Rush has moved on, he was arguably Dak Prescott's best backup in his career. Rush took over for Prescott during an injury and went 4-1 as a starter. He proved himself to be a valuable No. 2 option.

He was never really a mobile quarterback, even in his 20s, but still made it work. Now at 32, he's hoping to be the older guy in the room and at least hold the fort down when the two other quarterbacks come back.

Penix coming off an ACL tear is no joke, and he's still not eligible for 11-on-11 work. It's his third ACL tear in seven years, and he doesn't want to rush back. It will be at least four weeks before he's cleared for full contact, but you can't rush these things.

It looks like Tua will be the starter, but he has a history of concussion issues. Could Rush be a QB3 for veteran support? Or can he sneak his way in as an actual QB to play valuable minutes? It's a long NFL season, so we never know.

His stint with the Ravens, he will probably want to forget about. Last season, in four games played and two started, he threw for 303 passing yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions. He was QB3 behind Tyler Huntley and Lamar Jackson, respectively. Now, he's looking for a shot with two quarterbacks injured during training camp.

From the Falcons' point of view, Rush will likely be the QB3 when Tagovailoa and Penix are healthy, but right now, they aren't. It's not the most exciting signing for Falcons fans, but he's the most experienced QB out of the three. If there's anybody who's been productive for most of his career, it's been Rush.
