Training camp around the league will start picking up in the next week or so. Soon enough, all 32 teams across the nation will be at camp, preparing for the 2025 season. The Cowboys will be in California, kicking things off.

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans are signing RB Jordan Mims to a two-year deal on Thursday, according to Jordan Schultz. This addition just adds another body to the backfield for the former Cowboys RB Tony Pollard to compete with.

Ex-Cowboys Tony Pollard Has Another RB to Fend Off in Tennessee

Tennessee signed Pollard last offseason on a three-year, $24 million deal to make him the lead back. He finished the 2024 season leading the team in carries (260), rushing yards (1,079), and touchdowns (5). Despite the solid numbers, Titans head coach Brian Callahan is looking to have things more balanced attack this season.

He said back in June, "In a perfect world, it's a healthier division of labor [between Pollard and Spears]. I like really both of those players a lot. I think we can do a better job of managing that load so they both play a little more evenly and allows us to maybe have a spot for a third back between [Julius Chestnut] and [Kalel Mullings], a heavier style back and runner."

Mims has bounced around the New Orleans Saints' practice squad throughout the majority of his NFL career thus far, logging 20 carries for 70 yards. He also played on special teams.

Landing a two-year deal here shows the Titans like some of the potential they've seen and wanted to add another body to the backfield. Tennessee is now holding Pollard, Spears, Chestnut, Mullings, Mims, and Tyrion Davis-Price in the running back room.

There will be a lot of competition happening over the next few weeks. While Pollard will still see his fair share of carries, there should be an expectation that there will be a hit compared to what he's logged over the last three years. It sounds like they want to keep his body fresh throughout the course of a 17-game season, and having some carries taken away looks like a priority for them, and the addition of Mims illustrates that.
