Giants legend can't help but say the obvious truth about Dak Prescott

Giants fans won't be happy to hear this.

For years, Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott has been one of the most polarizing figures in football. While some acknowledge he's vastly underrated and recognize his impressive numbers and play, others see him as the team's weakest link.

Perhaps the truth is somewhere in between. Prescott is arguably the only reason this team has stayed competitive at times, but he's also cost this team in big games. Still, there's no way to argue they're much better with him than without him.

That's why even a former divisional rival had no choice but to give him his flowers. In an interview with Bolavip, New York Giants legend Carl Banks gave Prescott his rightful place among the league's elite signal-callers.

Giants legend Carl Banks says Dak Prescott is the best QB in the NFC

"Dak Prescott is the best quarterback in the conference, not just in the NFC East. He’s the best quarterback in the conference," said Banks.

That means the world, coming from a hard-hitting linebacker who used to torment the Cowboys for a living. Moreover, the NFC isn't short in quarterback talent, with the likes of Matthew Stafford -- the reigning MVP --, Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, and Sam Darnold all going toe-to-toe.

Prescott has been an MVP finalist himself, but the team's record has hurt his chances more often than not. And even though he's not as mobile as he used to be, he's already shown that he can put up video game-like numbers when healthy.

The Cowboys' offense was one of the best in the league in the first year of the Brian Schottenheimer era. Schotty clearly knows how to bring out the best in his quarterback, and they might only be more dangerous if CeeDee Lamb can stay healthy and George Pickens picks up things where he left them last season.

Prescott, like his predecessor Tony Romo, rarely gets any credit and only faces all the blame and criticism. The Cowboys would've probably moved on from No. 4 if they'd had a better alternative, but that's never been the case.

Stafford won his first Super Bowl at 34 and his first MVP at 38. Some guys need more time to get the recognition they deserve, and that might be Prescott's case. He plays quarterback for one of the most -- if not the most -- popular team in pro sports, and all it takes is a strong season for him to flip the script and for everyone to realize what Banks already knows.
