After a disappointing 2024 season where they finished 7-10, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to bounce back in 2025. Yet, their scheduled opponents for the 2025 season don't pave the easiest road to the playoffs. On Monday morning, it was revealed that the Cowboys will open the 2025 season on the road against the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dallas is also scheduled to face the losing team from last year's Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs, this season. Wednesday morning, the NFL's official X account revealed the Cowboys and Chiefs showdown will take place on Thanksgiving night.

This news clearly caught the attention of injured Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who posted to Instagram stories about it. Overshown's Instagram story was short and sweet, claiming " Oh yeah I’m active in this." The 24-year-old's post gives fans a clear vision of when to expect him back.

DeMarvion Overshown Makes Big Promise Regarding His Return From Injury

In December of 2024, Overshown tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL during Dallas's Week 14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Initial reports indicated that he would require significant recovery time for the injury, which makes sense due to the severity. Since then, it's been reported that Overshown is expected to return midseason, and the news of the Chiefs' matchup was all he needed to set a return date.

As a rookie, Overshown recorded 90 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception. His potential return to face Kansas City would be huge for the Cowboys' defense.

Furthermore, these two franchises could have a lot a stake in this game. For the past 30 years, Dallas has been known as "America's Team", but the Chiefs could be coming for that title. Kansas City has already tried to stake a claim to being the NFL staple Christmas Day team, like the Cowboys have been on Thanksgiving.

Although that failed, Kansas City has been the more successful franchise over the last decade, meaning it get more spotlight. If Dallas can fend off the Chiefs, thanks to an Overshown return on Thanksgiving, there will be no question that they are still America's Team.
