There's been a lot of talk, for some reason, about Kyrie Irving possibly getting traded and how he doesn't belong on a young-looking team like the Dallas Mavericks. It's a radical idea that's not out of the picture, but one NBA champion is offering reassurance that the Mavs are doing the right thing by keeping him.
On the "Curious Mike" podcast, former Nuggets forward and current Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. discussed all things basketball-related. One of the things that came up was Kyrie Irving and how he couldn't believe he was moving out there. The concern about a torn ACL is understandable, especially with Irving reaching his mid-30s, but Mavs fans should love what Porter Jr. had to say.
“I was hooping with him yesterday, and this is off of his ACL. That dude was so cold, bro. I couldn't believe how he was moving out there… Bro, it was nutty. It was crazy.”

Lonzo Ball added that he's got more skill than Kevin Durant. Whether fans want to debate that is their choice, but this is a nice comparison to where Irving is.
We heard an update that Irving is ready to go for next season and has completely recovered from his torn ACL. It's a tough injury to recover from, but if anyone can come back from it and be himself again, it's Irving.
Porter Jr. seems to confirm that, and we should take his word seriously, knowing that he's an elite scorer and has been in the league for a while. Saying the words, "I can't believe how he was moving," is a strong testament to how far he's come.
He's already the first face Dusty May looks for in the practice and in-game huddles because of his championship expertise. May has already expressed that he's going to use Irving as a cheat code in his first season in Dallas, and he should. Irving also personally congratulated May on being hired as the Mavericks' next head coach, and that's even more reason for him to be here.
Everything that Irving is going to be in the Mavericks' plans this season, and Porter Jr.'s words are another indicator that his place is safe. He's the championship veteran who can help elevate Cooper Flagg's game by a ton.
Mavs fans needed an outsider's opinion, and if they didn't believe Shams Charania, they should believe Porter Jr.'s words.
