With the 2025 NFL Draft set to begin on Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys’ brass took the chance to speak and answer questions from reporters about several topics, such as Micah Parsons’ contract situation, a former player visiting the practice facility, and the actual NFL draft.

The Cowboys have ten picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, including No. 12 overall in the first round. Dallas fans wonder what the team will do at that spot, as they could get a playmaker on offense or add more depth to the defense.

In addition to making draft picks, the Cowboys could also make trades to retool and upgrade their roster. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team is working on “pretty substantive trades,” regarding players before the NFL draft.

Archer adds that Jones didn’t give any more details, but they are taking calls. When Cowboys fans saw this quote on social media, they didn’t get their hopes up, as Dallas hasn’t fared well in trades lately.

Earlier this month, the Cowboys acquired second-year quarterback Joe Milton in a trade from the New England Patriots, which the fanbase liked, as the team didn’t have a backup QB with Cooper Rush moving on to Baltimore.

However, before the Milton trade, Dallas fans were angry at the team for trading a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick.

The Mingo trade was a massive disappointment, as the 24-year-old receiver didn’t make an impact in the Cowboys’ passing game. The young wideout had five receptions (16 targets) for 46 yards in eight games. Mingo also played 29% of offensive snaps.

With that trade still in the back of Cowboys fans’ minds, if Dallas does make some trades, they need to get impact players back in return to bounce back from a rough 2024 season.
