The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most recognizable brands in all of sports and Jerry Jones has benefited financially from that for decades.
From the slogan of America's Team, to the success of the Triplets, to the biggest stars on the sidelines, the Cowboys cheerleaders, Jones has brought in plenty of money from memories of the team's heyday or the iconic look that fans have grown accustomed to seeing from the team's cheerleaders.
Well, those iconic Dallas cheerleaders just scored a big win over Jones and the organization and it is going to hit Jones where it hurts the most, his checkbook.
Jerry Jones Folds to Financial Demands of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders
After feuding with the franchise for years over their rate of pay, the Cowboys cheerleaders scored a win over Jerry Jones and company on Thursday. Just years after receiving a boost in pay from $200 per game to $400 per game, the 2025 season is providing these women with a massive pay raise.
During a recent episode of Netflix's "America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders," it was shared that the cheerleaders are receiving a 400% raise. This represents a huge jump from their most recent rate of pay.
"Our efforts were heard and they wanted to give us a raise," Megan McElaney said, via ESPN. "And we ended up getting a 400% increase, which is like, life-changing."
Life-changing is certainly one way to put it. It remains to be seen what this move by Jones means for the rest of the NFL, as one would imagine other groups of cheerleaders throughout the NFL will approach their respective ownership groups with similar demands.
Despite being some of the most well-known members of the organization, the Cowboys cheerleaders were not compensated as such. Now, they are, and it is a move that has been a long time coming in Dallas.
