The Dallas Mavericks have every reason to build around Cooper Flagg, their 19-year-old phenom who's ready to become the next great one. Within that rebuild, questions have arisen about the future of 34-year-old Kyrie Irving.

Irving, one of the best ball handlers the game has ever seen, looks like he's going to play second option to Flagg, and with head coach Dusty May now in the picture, there are even more questions, but hopefully all of that has been answered now.

Irving was streaming live online and briefly talked about the May hire. It's safe to say that Irving and May are already a perfect match made in heaven, and even told fans to congratulate him on being hired.

"Shoutout to Coach May! Dusty May, man, shout him out! Make sure y’all flood his messages and tell him congrats!” Welcome to Dallas, man."

There were concerns even before May about how Irving's offseason would go, but it looks like everything is pointing to him being here in Dallas, and even staying with his new coach. This is great news, especially because Irving and the coaches have been at the forefront of previous controversies.

Irving reportedly didn't want Kenny Atkinson as his coach in Brooklyn, but that was several years ago. We can all see Irving is a changed person now. May is a college coach looking to prove himself on the big stage, with a history of college coaches not transitioning too well to the NBA. May is looking to break that curse, and Irving is already a fan.

It's pretty easy to see why fans are loving the hire. May has had an instant rise in the past three seasons, taking Florida Atlantic to a Final Four and winning a national championship with Michigan in one of the more dominant seasons Michigan has ever seen.

As enticing as a trade package may be, we have to see Irving and Flagg on the court together. We've come too far to see Irving recover to get cheated out of watching a one-two punch like Flagg and Irving. It may be "Flagg's team" now, but Irving is the undisputed veteran voice.

We already heard a report a few weeks back that the Mavericks were planning to leave Irving off the market, and his hype toward May pretty much confirms that he likes the hire, and the veteran is here to stay.
