Dallas Cowboys fans flooded social media on Tuesday when the rumors of their interest in Maxx Crosby went public. The Las Vegas Raiders are going through another tough season, and it might be time to move on from the superstar defensive end.
The star defensive end has shut down all potential trade rumors in the past. And while team insider Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS reports the Cowboys haven't reached out to the Raiders about a trade, that doesn't mean it won't happen.
Cowboys Haven't Talked to Raiders About Maxx Crosby Yet
"Per source, the Cowboys have not made any contact with Raiders about Maxx Crosby.
That doesn’t mean they haven’t had any internal discussions about possible moves or options.
But 'Haven’t talked to Raiders about Crosby', per source," Hill wrote on X.
If this sounds familiar, it's because it is. That was the same approach the Green Bay Packers took with Micah Parsons. Back on Aug. 27, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reported that the Packers were interested in Parsons, but the interest was "nowhere near the smoke that's out there." Fast forward to today, and we know how that happened.
The Raiders fell to 2-5 after being shut down by the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Crosby couldn't finish the game because of knee and back injuries, and he's currently doubtful to suit up in Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Of course, his absence won't do much to appease the rumors, considering how teams and players usually choose to skip games to stay healthy when they're about to be traded.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Raiders have already let Crosby know that he's not going to be moved, and he reportedly doesn't want to be traded, either. Then again, we've heard that way too many times in the past:
"The Raiders met with star DE Maxx Crosby today to let him know they aren’t shopping him and won’t trade him," Pelissero wrote on X. "While other teams are interested, the Raiders aren’t interested in moving their best player, and Crosby wants to stay in Las Vegas."
Crosby has struggled with injuries, but he's one of the best pass rushers in the game, and he'd certainly be a welcome addition for a Cowboys team that's still missing a prime headhunter. So far, Crosby has logged 18 solo tackles, ten tackles for loss, nine QB hits, five passes defensed, 4.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception this season.
