The Dallas Cowboys' 2024 season has been an utter disaster. They are 4-7 on the year but found a way to snap their five-game losing streak in Week 12 against the Washington Commanders.

Although that was a much-needed win for the morale of the team, this season is hanging on by a thread. Throughout the offseason, the Cowboys made a bunch of questionable decisions, but the latest development around Tyron Smith confirms that Dallas made the right decision to let him walk in free agency.

NFL News: Tyron Smith is Likely Head to IR

As we roll into Week 13, ESPN's Rich Cimini reported that New York Jets head coach Jeff Ulbrich said that Smith (neck) is likely headed to IR.

Smith has been out of action since Nov. 10 against the Arizona Cardinals due to a neck injury. Ulbrich said there hasn't been enough improvement and he's "definitely becoming an IR candidate."

He ended up signing with the Jets back in March on a one-year, $6.5 million deal that could be worth up to $20 million. Despite inking that deal, Smith has been a massive disappointment for New York.

This season, he's tied for ninth in the NFL in sacks allowed (5) while committing six penalties. In addition, Smith allowed 22 total pressures.

It looks like all his injuries have caught up to him with the Jets, affecting his play. He just isn't looking like the same All-Pro that he was in Dallas.

The Cowboys drafted Tyler Guyton to be his replacement, and he has struggled as well but he's still a rookie. He has all the physical tools needed to thrive and it looks like this was the right choice in the long run.
