The Dallas Cowboys have just one game left on their schedule before closing the door on the 2025 season. It hasn't gone as planned in several areas, including the defensive side of the ball.

Under defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, the defense has been lackluster, leading to doubt from owner/general manager Jerry Jones. There will be movement on the defensive side of the ball and the future of linebacker Logan Wilson hangs in the balance going into Week 18.

He has been in Dallas since November after being acquired from the Cincinnati Bengals, but there's no telling on if he'll be around for the 2026 season.

In the win over the Washington Commanders on Christmas Day, Wilson didn't play at all, which caught the attention of head coach Brian Schottenheimer. On Dec. 29, Schottenheimer said it was a mistake by the coaches that he didn't play, but the fact that the staff didn't put him on the field at all isn't a good sign.

Dallas has trotted out Kenneth Murray Jr., DeMarvion Overshown, and Shemar James at linebacker over Wilson. That's surprising since the Cowboys felt they needed more in that room but the fact that he hasn't been able to crack the starting lineup is concerning.

Since arriving in Dallas, he has logged 170 total snaps but only played in over 50% of the defensive snaps in two of the six games played. In these outings, he has compiled17 total tackles but hasn't been effective. According to Pro Football Focus, Wilson has a 44.2 overall grade, 61.2 run defense grade, and a 39.7 coverage grade. His shaky play has carried over from his time with the Bengals and that puts his future in Dallas up in the air.

It doesn't help his case that the Cowboys could move on from him this offseason if they wanted. If Dallas decided to cut Wilson this offseason, they would save $6.55 million in cap space per Spotrac.

There's no telling what Dallas will do this offseason in terms of Wilson but Week 18 will play a role in that decision. It's obvious that Jones isn't thrilled that Wilson wasn't out there in Week 17 so we could see a change his snap count in Week 18.

If he balls out in the finale against the New York Giants, that could change what his 2026 status in Dallas looks like. Jones and company have made it known they want to see Wilson out there but with how things have gone lately, his future with the team is still undecided.
