Jason Kidd's departure has woken up the Dallas Mavericks fanbase, but it shows the Luka Doncic trade is still having a colossal effect on the Mavericks, and it's not hard to see that there's a full-circle moment taking place.

It was the morning after the trade on February 1st, 2025, when Kidd held a press conference with former Mavs general manager Nico Harrison. Harrison tried to ensure the Mavs made the right decision, but of course, fans weren't convinced at all. It led to Harrison's firing nine months later, and fans have expressed that they will forever miss the Slovenian superstar making magic on the hardwood.

"In the future, to me is three to four years from now. 10 years from now, I don't know, they'll probably bury me and (Jason Kidd) by then. Or we bury ourselves."

Nico Harrison and Jason Kidd are both gone while Luka Doncic is thriving

Well, it's only 15 months after that, and it's safe to say, they are both burying themselves in record time.

Of course, Harrison is most to blame for the Doncic trade, as he orchestrated it as the man in charge of basketball operations. American Airlines Center would roar down with boos, and chants of "Fire Nico" would eventually become too much for the organization to overcome. He would be fired in early November, nine months after the trade.

Kidd doesn't deserve the same amount of blame at all, as he has proven to work well with superstar players like Doncic and Kyrie Irving. He would've done well with Davis, except he was in street clothes and injured more than he played. By the time Davis was traded, fans knew what they all thought from the beginning. This was an 'F' grade from the get-go.

Since then, Doncic has been thriving with the Los Angeles Lakers, and the former Mavs forward is a clear MVP candidate for years to come. Worst of all, he got traded to the Lakers, a team that makes Mavs fans even more sick.

We all knew Doncic would be the last one laughing at the end of the day, and with Harrison and Kidd both gone, it goes to show this trade is a full-circle moment from Harrison's golden quote. He buried himself, and Kidd is out the door now, too.

It didn't take 10 years for it to happen, or heck, it didn't even take three years. It took 15 months for the Doncic trade to become the full-circle moment for Mavs fans from the morning after he was traded.

Even if Masai Ujiri isn't cleaning house, it looks like the house is removing itself from the picture after Kidd's departure. The Doncic trade will always be the worst memory for Mavs fans, but they will get a laugh out of this historic quote from Harrison about burying himself from what has continued to be the worst trade ever.
