The Dallas Cowboys haven’t made a huge splash in free agency. Instead, they’ve made a concerted effort to re-sign their free agents to kick off the legal tampering period.
With Dallas taking that approach, they’ve seen veteran and fan favorite cornerback Jourdan Lewis and Chauncey Golston sign elsewhere, which didn’t make the fanbase happy. Lewis reportedly signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Golston inked a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the New York Giants.
When it was reported that Golston joined the Giants, Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons wasn’t too pleased to hear it. Parsons took to Twitter on Monday night and posted, “dam”.

Golston had his best season as a Cowboy in 2024, as Dallas needed the veteran pass rusher to take on a larger workload with the injuries on the d-line.
The 27-year-old defensive end posted career highs across the board with 56 combined tackles, 18 quarterback pressures, eight QB hits, 5.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, and an interception in 17 games (13 starts).
According to PFF, Golston didn’t do one thing great last season as he had a 60.7 pass rush (98th among 211 edges) and a 56.8 run defense grade (133rd). However, he gave Dallas a much-needed boost off the edge, playing a career-high 72% of defensive snaps.
The Cowboys will try to replace Golston’s production with the free-agent signings of Solomon Thomas and Payton Turner, whom the team signed on Tuesday.
Thomas recorded 11 quarterback pressures and 3.5 sacks last season with the New York Jets. Meanwhile, Turner had nine quarterback pressures and only two sacks with the New Orleans Saints.
Those two players won’t be able to fill the void left by Golston, so Cowboys fans and Parsons hope the team has another move up its sleeve to add more playmakers on the defensive line this offseason.
