Last offseason, Jerry Jones made one free agent addition to the Dallas Cowboys roster, Ezekiel Elliott. Reuniting with Elliott was the most underwhelming move the team could have made, as his career was clearly on the decline before coming back to Dallas. To nobody's surprise, Elliott was almost non-existent in the Cowboys offense during the 2024 season.
Entering this offseason, Cowboys fans are hoping Jones learned from his mistakes last year and adds noteworthy free agents to the roster during free agency in 2025. That said, Cowboys fans don't seem to be the only ones who want to see Jones do better at acquiring players, as star pass rusher Micah Parsons recently revealed.
During a Make-A-Wish charity event on Thursday, Parsons spoke about where the Cowboys roster is at in comparison to their division rival and Super Bowl Champion, the Philadelphia Eagles. According to NFL Networks Kevin Patra and Ian Rapoport. Parsons said, "I don't wanna sit back and just watch other people build and build and build and (we) stay the same, so we definitely need some call to action.
Micah Parsons Calls Out Jerry Jones Roster Building Heading into Free Agency

While Parsons can't straight up say that Jerry Jones has done a bad job at fielding a roster, his comments come pretty close. Parsons' comments clearly show he understands that Dallas must improve their roster to compete with both the Eagles and Washington Commanders.
However, part of the reason the Cowboys are strapped for cash is the contracts they are paying Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, and they will soon have to pay Parsons. Both Prescott and Lamb are getting paid top of the market for their position, as will Parsons.
Nevertheless, Jones should understand how to work the cap so he can keep all the superstars and add other key contributors. After all, Jones has been an NFL GM for 36 years.
If Jones fails to take action this offseason, he risks not only failing further behind in the NFC East but also potentially losing Parsons, who could reconsider his future in Dallas before the 2026 offseason.
