It's officially time for Dallas Cowboys fans to panic.
The Micah Parsons saga has dominated headlines this offseason. He wants a new contract that he richly deserves, and in typical Cowboys fashion, Jerry Jones's stubborn ways have derailed things. As we saw with Dez Bryant, Dak Prescott, and CeeDee Lamb, Jones is insistent on disrespecting his stars and making negotiations as complicated and immature as possible.
For Bryant, Prescott, and Lamb, Jones eventually caved and paid more than he needed to. That hasn't happened yet with Parsons, and one new report suggests it may be too late. After a disastrous 5-12 season, things appear to be getting much worse.

Micah Parsons Reportedly Considering Severing Cowboys Relationship
According to Diana Russini of The Athletic, the relationship between Parsons and Dallas has deteriorated to the point that he's considering a trade request or public declaration that he's severing his ties with the organization.
It's hard to overstate how unnecessary and terrifying this is for the Cowboys. Parsons is a three-time All-Pro with 52.5 sacks in his first four seasons. At absolute worst, he's a top-three defensive player in the NFL, and there's a sound argument to make that he's No. 1. Dallas drafted and developed him, and he's stated his desire to remain with the franchise for his entire career. Instead of rewarding that loyalty, Jones dug in his heels and started a war he had no business fighting.
From incorrectly stating that Parsons missed six games last season (he missed four) to calling him "Michael Parson" in a press conference, Jones has repeatedly disrespected the most important and best player on the roster. It's goofy, it's pointless, and it's downright foolish.
Parsons is in the final year of his rookie deal. This is exactly when you extend a player like this. Aside from the obvious reasons that he makes the defense better, rewarding someone like Parsons sends a message to the locker room and potential free agents that your franchise actually cares about its players and is a desirable destination.
Instead of doing the logical thing, Jones put a rake at his own feet and jumped on it. Losing Parsons would be one of the worst mistakes in Cowboys history, and such a failure would be a fireable offense for anyone in any industry. Unfortunately for Dallas fans, Jones answers to no one, and his ego continually destroys the team's chances of actually winning anything significant.
It's long been time for Jones to hand the reins to someone more competent. Perhaps this will finally be the straw that breaks the camel's back, but it might be too late for the Cowboys to salvage their relationship with one of the best players to ever don the star.
No matter what happens from here, it's nearly impossible to handle this as poorly as Dallas has. Parsons isn't happy, nor should he be. Just maybe, he'll go somewhere that he's actually appreciated.
