Monday marked the opening of the NFL's free agency tampering window, kickstarting quite an eventful day for the Dallas Cowboys.
America's Team opened the new cycle on a low note as standout cornerback Jourdan Lewis left the Lone Star State to join the Jacksonville Jaguars, becoming the NFL's highest-paid nickel cornerback in the process. The Cowboys then followed up Lewis' exit by re-signing veteran long snapper Trent Sieg in a largely underwhelming move.
Signings weren't the only things making waves on Monday, though. The league also saw a surprise trade as the Houston Texans traded multi-Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil and a 2025 fifth-rounder to the Washington Commanders in exchange for four draft picks.
Seeing a division rival improve is never fun, and it's clear that one Cowboys star is currently dealing with that mindset.
Micah Parsons Unhappy About Commanders Trading for Laremy Tunsil
Shortly after the Tunsil trade was announced, Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons hopped on social media and used three specific letters making his feelings about the NFC East rival's acquisition abundantly clear.
"WTF," Parsons typed in all caps on X.
The four-time Pro Bowl disruptor is never one to hold back his thoughts, so it isn't surprising that he's openly unhappy about the Commanders acquiring a quality blocker like Tunsil.
The Cowboys need to have a strong offseason performance after missing the NFL playoffs and watching division rivals improve while Jerry Jones re-signs special teamers, which doesn't send a great message to the fanbase or players.
Less than a month ago, Parsons openly pressured the Cowboys into making legitimate offseason moves. The former Penn State product spoke about the offseason with team writer Patrik Walker last month, stating that he wants "to see us be aggressive, and I wanna see us get players that's gonna help us."
"I don't wanna sit back and just watch other people build and build and build and (we) stay the same," Parsons said. "We definitely need some call to action."
The 2025 offseason is already looking quite similar to the last one — even down to re-signing Sieg as Dallas' first move. Instead of prioritizing aggressive moves last summer, the Cowboys decided to operate with caution while signing low-risk veterans to cheap contracts. That lack of aggression probably played a big role in missing out on the postseason.
After seeing how last offseason and the subsequent campaign played out, it remains to be seen if Jones & Co. truly learned their lesson. While there isn't anything wrong with avoiding a free-agent overpay, the Cowboys can't realistically challenge for a Super Bowl if they don't sign the top-level talent to help them compete.
Hopefully, Dallas will increase its aggression and start making needle-moving decisions. In the meantime, the Cowboys will continue venturing through free agency tied for the 22nd-best Super Bowl 60 odds (+6500) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
