To no one's surprise, the Dallas Cowboys training camp has started off chaotic. During the franchise's pre-training camp press conferences, general manager Jerry Jones called out stars Trevon Diggs, Micah Parsons, and Dak Prescott. Then, during their second practice on Wednesday, a fight broke out.
That said, the Cowboys ' on-field product has looked promising in the first couple of practices. In particular, new cornerback Kaiir Elam is continuing his hot start in Dallas.
According to Nick Harris of the Star Telegram, Elam continues to find the ball during practice, recording an interception of Prescott on Wednesday. Elam starting off training camp hot should excite Cowboys fans, given the state of their cornerback room.
Cowboys CB Kaiir Elam is in a good position to start in week one.

Kaiir Elam Continues to Impress Early in Training Camp
The 24-year-old continues to show growth in coverage early on in camp. During the spring, Elam made noise in OTAs and mandatory minicamp because he was playing tight coverage on CeeDee Lamb. After one practice, Bryan Broaddus of 105.3 The Fan said, "Elam had another good day. There was another time where they tried to throw the ball inside to (CeeDee) Lamb, and Elam was inside on that one and knocked the ball down."
Elam continuing to succeed at the start of training camp is exactly what Cowboys fans want to see. The former first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills hasn't had his best start to his career.
In three seasons, he played in 29 games (12 starts), recording 81 tackles, six pass deflections and two interceptions. Furthermore, he has never graded above a 70.0 in pass coverage, according to PFF. However, seeing his improvement in coverage through the spring and the start of training camp shouldn't be all that surprising.
In 2024, Elam recorded his best pass coverage grade, a 67.0, according to PFF. The young cornerback's continued development will only help the Cowboys. Currently, he is slated to start in place of the injured Diggs to begin the year.
Moreover, it seems that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys may be over Trevon Diggs and could look to cut him next offseason. If that happens, an Elam breakout would allow Dallas to have a player already in-house to replace Diggs.
As a result, Cowboys fans should be cheering for Elam to continue putting together good practices.
