3. The Rangers Don't Stop at One Starting Pitcher

Landing Ohtani isn't going to completely price Texas out of bringing in another starting pitcher that can bring the firepower in October, either.

Whether we're looking at Blake Snell, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer or another top option, this is how the Rangers would really swing for the fences. The real question is whether Texas could pull off the Ohtani-plus-another-top-starter haul without shipping out Owen White, Brock Porter and Jack Leiter.

Leiter is one of the prospects I think the Rangers should move, and it may well take White to land Ohtani. But I don't think Porter needs to be on the table to bring in one of these rentals.

A splash like this would certainly shift the Rangers right into the conversation as one of the favorites to win the World Series. So if you're looking to bet on them, it's better to act now before those odds move.
