1. Trey Lance, QB

The third overall pick in 2021, Trey Lance came into the NFL full of talent but void of experience. He hardly played for the North Dakota State Bison but Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch liked what they saw enough to move up in the draft.

After sitting behind Jimmy Garoppolo for his rookie season, Lance was given the chance to earn the starting job in 2022. He started the first two games of the season before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. His numbers that year weren't great as he completed 48.4 percent of his passing attempts for 194 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

While he was injured, Brock Purdy took the starting job and never looked back. This led to Lance being sent to Dallas in exchange for a fourth-round pick last year. Lance spent the entire season as the inactive third quarterback and finally got a chance to play for the Cowboys this preseason.

His first outing wasn't ideal but he showed a lot of improvement in the second game against the Las Vegas Raiders. It's clear Lance still needs time to get comfortable playing at the NFL level but he's still just 24 years old. He might even be a better option for some teams, such as the Minnesota Vikings who lost J.J. McCarthy for the year.

Of course, Dallas trading Lance might be contingent on them finally getting a deal done with Dak Prescott. If they do, they'll have no problem going into the season with Prescott and Rush. If they don't get him signed, they might try and keep Lance in 2025 as an emergency option.
